Dr. Erin Siems
Veterinarian
In her free time, Dr Siems enjoys hanging out with her husband and two “kids” Shaka, a boxer and Arnold, a boerboel mastiff. She also enjoys paddleboarding, running and creating culinary experiences in her kitchen. +

Dr. Michelle Hernandez
Veterinarian
Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Hernandez recently made the move to sunny Florida with her husband, two daughters, and cat to trade snow shovels for sunshine. She has a special interest in surgery, internal medicine, and behavior, and loves building lasting relationships with pets and their families. Her goal is to make every visit as comfortable and stress-free as possible while providing compassionate, high-quality care.
When she’s not at the hospital, you’ll usually find Dr. Hernandez spending time with her family, exploring parks and beaches, or trying out local restaurants.
She feels grateful to be part of the Lakewood Ranch community and looks forward to caring for your pets for years to come. +

Dr. Natalie Paul
Veterinarian
Although she enjoys the freedom of relief work, Dr Paul likes to settle in and work regularly at her favorite clinics. She has been a regular relief vet at Big Paws for the past year and loves the staff and great clients! Dr Paul has special interests in internal medicine, oncology, and geriatric medicine. She is planning on taking an ultrasound course in the near future. +

Whitney
Hospital Manager
Whitney has been in the veterinary field for over 15 years. She graduated from St. Petersburg College where she attended the Veterinary Technician program. She now lives in Wimauma with her husband Branden and 2 children Everly and Ezra. They share their home with a Shih-Tzu they call Cheeky, a French Mastiff named Hot Sauce and a cat named Kit. She also decorates her property with 2 horses named Mako and Doolie and a mini named Buzz lightyear. When she isn’t out and about with her kiddos she prefers to be a home-body, enjoying her family and animals in her own back yard.

Hali
Technician Manager
Hali was born in Upstate NY and moved to Florida in high school. Hali has always loved animals and started working at doggy daycares right out of high school. Since then she has been in the veterinary field for 2 years and is currently enrolled in school to become a licensed veterinary technician. Hali has a pitbull mix named Cooper. In her free time she likes to cuddle on the couch with Cooper and watch hockey.

Breanna
Lead Receptionist
Breanna is originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and moved to Florida in 2020 and currently lives in St. Petersburg. She has always had a passion for animals, which started when she was fresh out of high school. She brings experience in doggy daycare, boarding, client services, and as a technician, allowing her to provide compassionate care for our Big Paws patients. Before joining the veterinary field, Breanna spent several years as a supervisor at a doggy daycare where she developed strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of canine behavior. When she’s not at work, Breanna loves spending time at the beach, being out on water, exploring new food spots, and making memories with friends and family. She also enjoys hanging out with her two-rescue Pitbull/Dachshund mixes, Harlow and Hazel.

Joanne
Receptionist
Joanne was born in Fort Lee, Virginia and moved several times until her father retired from the military and settled in Federal Point, FL when she was 8. She enjoyed growing up in the county where she developed a love of nature and animals. Joanne spent many years as a stay at home mom raising her three children Patrick (Go Bulls!), Robyn (Go Gators!) and Conner (Go Lions!) and is proud of her boys in blue-both her son and husband work for the Manatee County Sherriff’s Office. She is happy to be working at the front desk at Big Paws with all her coworkers who she loves so much! In her free time, Joanne enjoys being with her family and taking care of her 2 horses, 3 dogs, 4 cats and 2 grand goats.

Rachel
Receptionist
Rachel was born and raised in Manatee County. She has been in the veterinary field since the age of 18. She is currently in school to become a CVT. Rachel shares her love for animals with her two daughters, Lillie and Natalie. They stay busy with a variety of 4-legged family member including five horses (Red, Wildfire, Zach, PeeWee and Snappy) four dogs (Annie, Bubbs, Snickers and Daisy) and a pig named Chatterbox. Rachel grew up around horses and started riding at the age of 3! She is an avid equestrian and loves competing!

Maggi
Receptionist
Maggi was born and raised in Bradenton, FL. She started volunteering at animal shelters at 14 years old. She became a CVA in 2016 after having a baby girl. For the past nine years she has been a veterinary technician in small animal GP. Maggi and her daughter get their fill of pets by taking dogs from the shelter for a “doggy day out” or fostering until they find their furrever homes. Maggi is a mental health advocate and loves all things astrology. During her free time she enjoys fishing, shopping and spending time with her daughter.

Bryce
Veterinary Technician
Bryce has been in veterinary medicine for about a year and a half, where he’s developed a strong passion for caring for animals and supporting their owners. When Bryce isn’t at work, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend Andrea, watching sports, and spending time with friends. Bryce is a proud owner to the sweetest Giant Schnoodle named Tobi.

Cali
Veterinary Technician
Cali joined the Big Paws team in August of 2025. She is currently getting her bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of South Florida. Cali has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was a little kid and plans on going to vet school to be a small animal and exotic vet. Cali has always worked with animals and has 100+ hours of volunteer work at Second Chance Ranch where she works with domestic, exotic, and farm animals. When Cali isn’t at work or volunteering you can find her caring for her dog Koda, 3 bearded dragons, a snake, a savannah monitor, an African fat-tailed gecko and 10 crested geckos.

Grace
Assistant
Grace was born and raised on Long Island, NY and moved to the west coast of Florida in 2021 for college. She is a USF alumnus and plans on attending vet school in the near future. Grace joined the Big Paws team in June of 2025. In her spare time, she enjoys cuddling with her two Havanese dogs, Archie and Benji, along with reading sci-fi/fantasy books. Grace is an avid sports fan and enjoys all things sports!

Caitlin
Assistant
Caitlin was born and raised in York, Pennsylvania and moved to Florida for college in 2021. She attended Eckerd College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Since Caitlin was a little girl, she always loved all animals big and small, and knew she wanted to work with them. Caitlin lives in Lakewood Ranch with her boyfriend Jason and two mixed breed dogs, Buddy and Kona, an orange tabby mix named Loquito and also a Silver Lab named Tasi who is still in PA with her parents.

Alex
Assistant
Alex has been in the veterinary field for about a year. She started as a receptionist and now works as an assistant learning all she can with our canine and feline patients. She enjoys going out on the boat and hanging out with her family at home. Alex spends her free time with her German Shepherd Bandit and two cats Reese and Peanut.
